The European Commission has developed the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to standardise data protection for all countries in the EU. (despite Brexit's best attempts)
A key aspect of the GDPR is to increase an organisation's obligation to follow established cybersecurity practices.
Poor data security leading to public exposure of sensitive personal information, could result in a fine in the millions or even billions of ££ - with penalties up to £500,000 at the lower end (SME's) and reaching up to 20 million euros at the higher end or 4% of the company's net income - whichever bracket you fall into, it's an expensive mistake!
PORT
have created a bridge over these troubled waters.
A lot of people are saying they are prepared for GDPR, but in our experience - and this is only anecdotal – the vast majority are not practically prepared. And if they are, they’re probably only looking at it from a pure compliance perspective and clearly GDPR is so much more than that.
